MidSEC’s objective is to build connections between the community of researchers and engineers working on the challenges of studying and understanding the midwater.
We broadly define the midwater as “all the ocean water below the sunlit surface and just above the deep-sea floor”. The challenges of working in this largest and least explored habitat on earth need a broad variety of approaches and perspectives.
Our aim is to provide a space where those interested in understanding the midwater can communicate about opportunities, work on solving challenges, strategize to push the field forward, and share progress.
By bringing together leading and new minds in oceanic engineering and research, we hope to provide a platform to support cooperation between researchers and institutions working to understand this vital ecosystem.
