Midwater Science and Engineering Community




The goal of MidSEC is connecting the community and increasing collaboration. As such we have chosen a venue that allow attendees to meet, stay, eat and mingle in one beautiful and engaging location.


Bäckaskog Castle, SWEDEN




Eighteen km from the town of Kristianstad in the Skåne County of Sweden, Bäckaskog Castle was originally constructed as a monastery during the 13th century before being annexed and transformed into a castle in the 16th century.

It now serves primarily as a hotel, with 63 rooms, and a highly-regarded restaurant. Bikes and canoes are available for guests to explore the expansive grounds and adjacent lakes.






STAY

Bäckaskog Castle boasts a variety of accommodation options. As part of registration for the conference, attendees will be asked to nominate their room preferences. We will do our best to assign you your first choice. Please click here to view accomodation options.

EAT

Meals for the duration of the conference will cost 6205 SEK. Price includes daily breakfast buffet, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Dinner on day of arrival and breakfast on day of departure will also be included.

Dietary requirements can be accommodated, but must be communicated to the organisers prior to the conference.








MINGLE

The castle is nestled between two glistening lakes and surrounded by gardens and parkland in the picturesque Skåne County. The area offers visitors plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities including hiking, canoeing, swimming and cycling.

During their stay, conference participants will have access to loan equipment from the castle.
